Stenheim at HIGH END Munich

Stenheim’s room at HIGH END

Following on the heels of AXPONA in the States, the global audio community gathers in Munich in May for High End – the world’s biggest hi-fi show. More than 1’000 brands attempt to grab the attention of the over 20’000 visitors, including the world’s hi-fi press and audio professionals.

The show is so vast that it is impossible to visit all of it, for those with the task of doing so, and it is very hard for a brand to stand out, but Stenheim did.

We reinvented our room to look like a library or living room, complete with Chesterfield sofa and parquet floor. Into this décor we installed a Nagra Classic system on a Modulum Audio rack with Thales turntable and tonearm and hooked it up to our brand new Alumine Five LE limited edition speakers with Crystal cable.

The Absolute Sound’s Alan Taffel liked what he heard: “Stenheim and Nagra Audio had one of the best-sounding [rooms], not to mention the best backdrop.”

Tom Martin, also from The Absolute Sound, felt it was one of the few rooms that he had to highlight.

After AXPONA, the Reference Ultime Two SX’s also made a big appearance at High End. They featured in Nagra’s own room, this time on the end of a full HD system, but also in darTZeel’s room bi-amped by four NHB-468 monoblocs!

Amongst the the huge array of loudspeaker manufacturers on display at this major event, we are proud to have caught the ears of some of the world’s most respected journalists and to have enthused the visitors to the show.

Stenheim at Axpona 2024

Nordost’s room at Axpona 2024

AXPONA is the biggest hi-fi show in the US, held in the Schaumberg Convention Center in Chicago every April and visited by more than 10’000 attendees.

Stenheim once again partnered with Nordost cables and VTL amps to provide stunning sound. In the large Nordost room, we displayed our Reference Ultime Two SX -  Reference Ultime Two speakers mounted on their Reference platforms for greater stability and ease in set-up. The world-renowned set-up guru Sterling Trayle tweaked the system and speaker placement to provide an award-winng sound.

It was remarked upon by the specialist press. The team at The Absolute Sound magazine was unanimous: this was one of the stand-out sounds of the show.

Jonathan Valin called it “a gorgeous-sounding system with superb staging and imaging and solid, hard-hitting bass.”

Andre Jennings gave it his Best Sound (cost no object) accolade whilst Robert Harley agreed - the Stenheim Reference Ultime Two SX’s provided the best sound in the show.

Stereophile was similarly impressed with Jason Victor Serinus saying:

“Last year in the large Schaumburg F air-walled room in the Convention Center, Stenheim, VTL, and Nordost put together one of the finest sounding rooms I’ve heard at any show. This year, the sound was again among the best I encountered in the over 40 rooms I auditioned.”

Jim Austin said "the system with big Stenheim Ultime Two SX speakers sounded superb."

We would like to thank our friends at Nordost and VTL for contributing to this success and proving that the Stenheim Ultime Two SX can provide enthralling music in even the most challenging rooms.

ALUMINE FIVE SE - THE ABSOLUTE SOUND REVIEW ONE FOR THE AGES  BY JONATHAN VALIN

« The Stenheim Five SE is not just a great speaker; it is one of high-end audio’s greatest speakers. Its ability to generate truly deep, linear, powerful bass, unusually rich and lifelike tone color, near-visible three-dimensional images, and astounding detail and dynamics from such a modest enclosure is not just a surprise; it is one for the ages. »

JÉRÔME SABBAGH LIVE CONCERT AT MUNICH HIGH END

Book your seat for the highlight of the Munich High End!

Is it Real Or Is It Recorded?

Sometimes It’s A Little Of Both…

There’s a long history of ‘real versus recorded’ presentations and advertising in audio. Right back to His Master’s Voice, there have been companies claiming that their reproduced sound is indistinguishable from reality: who can forget that classic tag-line, Is it real or is it Memorex?

Now, in a nice twist on the ‘real versus recorded’ theme, Swiss companies Stenheim and Dartzeel have joined forces with VDM Sound Group (acoustic treatments from Italy) to present a series of ‘live’ events at the Munich Show. Saxophonist Jérôme Sabbagh will be playing tracks from his latest album No Filter – but his backing band will be present via a live recording made in New York and replayed on the Dartzeel/Stenheim system in the room.

Alumine Five SE part of an amazing system!

During his visit to a customer from Liquid Hifi, our official reseller for North Carolina, the journalist Dennis Davis from The Audio Beat magazine was able to discover the incredible Sullivan system, curated and set up by Stirling Trayle of Audio Systems Optimized (ASO) featuring our Alumine Five SE.

“ Joe’s system locked in the you-are-there quality like I had not experienced before without actually being "there," in a live setting.”

Alumine Five SE review by Haute-Fidélité Magazine

“The Alumine FIVE SEs set the bar for high-fidelity incredibly high, whether than be in terms of definition, inexhaustible dynamics, the extraordinary variety of nuances or the realism of the sound stage, but in a perfect fusion of these elements that has almost never been heard before in this format. Taking a completely classic approach, their qualities do justice to the emotion and the natural energy of the music, creating special moments with an extraordinary talent. These indispensable loudspeakers free the musical energy of the very best recordings with panache: they are true prodigies!”

Bruno Castelluzzo, Haute-Fidélité Magazine, 2022

Tone Audio Magazine : The Stenheim Alumine 2 Speakers

“If the concept, and all the benefits that come with a high-performance two-way monitor appeal to you, Stenheim’s Alumine 2 speakers are fantastic. They offer excellent sound, meticulous execution, and a density of thought approached by very few similarly priced speakers. Highly recommended.”
