Jerome Sabbagh releases Heart

Jerome Sabbagh, the New York jazz saxophonist and Stenheim ambassador, has recorded and released his latest album Heart to universal acclaim. Created partly with our sponsorship and in the same spirit as the Stenheim Acoustic Sessions, Heart features a select lineup of superb musicians playing some jazz classics as well as some of Sabbagh’s own compositions. Michael Fremer was effusive while Jim Austin at Stereophile loved it too.

The album was recorded at New York’s Power Station studio where Stenheim coincidentally launched the Alumine Two.Five. It’s a legendary studio which has seen all sorts of A-list music stars record from The Rolling Stones to Bruce Springsteen, Madonna to Diana Krall. Heart is released on Jerome Sabbagh’s own label Analog Tone Factory and is an all-analogue affair, being recorded, mastered and cut without digital intervention. As you would expect from such an undertaking, both the music and the sound reproduction are exceptional.

The album features Sabbagh’s favourite living drummer Al Foster and he is candid that the album was a chance to play with him. Joe Martin handles bass. This sparse trio gives plenty of space for Sabbagh to improvise which he considers the very essence of jazz.

The album is now available for streaming. You can access it on your preferred platform by clicking on this link.

Heart is also available for high-resolution download (192/24) on Bandcamp, and, of course, in physical format (fully analog vinyl, CD, and master tapes) at www.analogtonefactory.com.
